As a refugee of the Vietnam War, Quang endured imprisonment and an arduous journey in the South Pacific before reaching California in 1988.

There he met Quynh and they had their first son before choosing to move to Sioux Falls in 1993 after reading in Money magazine that the city was one of the best places to start a business. They opened their first restaurant shortly after on East 10th street, then later on N. Minnesota Ave before settling on their current location.

Quang blends his and Quynh’s families recipes to create a food experience that is delicious and memorable for everyone who comes to the restaurant.

Owner & namesake

The matriarch of the family, Quynh immigrated to the United States after the Vietnam War for a better opportunity and chance at the American Dream. She and her husband Quang opened their first restaurant in Sioux Falls in 1993 until moving to their present location in 2007.

In 2018, her and her family achieved their version of the American Dream by buying their restaurant’s building. From refugees in a communist country where they couldn’t own anything to property owners with a vibrant and thriving business, Quynh is the face of the restaurant.

As the second oldest son of the family, Tony literally grew up in the kitchen of the family’s various restaurants. He remembers learning side-by-side with his mother all of the recipes and foods that she worked on to adapt to local palettes with available ingredients.

After graduating from the University of South Dakota, Tony returned to the family business to take the lead. With a background in professional kitchens and tastes from his constant travels, Tony often takes the initiative to launch innovative and limited-time offerings at the restaurant .
